Where To Go When: Great Britain & Ireland
£19.99, traveldk.com, ISBN 978 1 40535 146 1
Featuring stunning photography and comprehensive references for each location, this book is a valuable tool for anyone planning a short break or day out. The 66-page regional directory is particularly useful. The ‘time of year’ recommendations are a bit arbitrary though. Having spent Christmas on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, I know the area is more than a summer destination. And there may be good reasons for suggesting Birmingham in winter, but the authors often don’t fully explain why. I wouldn’t take the pricing guidelines too seriously either: £220 per couple per day for a trip to Liverpool seems ridiculous!
