Rocky shore wildlife survey 2

The North York Moors National Park Authority is looking for Ramblers and other recruits for its weekend volunteer group. The ‘Make a Difference’ Volunteer Group meets the second Sunday of every month and gets involved in a wide range of conservation tasks across the North York Moors – ranging from wildlife survery to helping make footpaths more accessible for everyone. Other recent tasks carried out by volunteers include tree felling and dry stone walling.

“I would really recommend volunteering with the group to anyone looking to do something a bit different and who enjoys the outdoors,” says
17 year-old Beatrice Bretherton, who has been volunteering for just over a year. “We get a good variety of fun tasks to do and you get a real sense of achievement at the end of a hard day’s work.”

Volunteers installing boardwalkYou don’t need any particular skills to volunteer with the National Park as training will be given, but you should have a reasonable level of fitness and lots of enthusiasm! For more information on volunteering in the North York Moors National Park, call ✆ 01439 770657 or email [email protected]
