More feet on The Cleveland Way

The Cleveland Way National Trail – which is celebrating its 40th birthday in 2009 – has seen an encouraging boost in walkers this year. Footfall counters hidden in four locations along the 110-mile route showed an average 26% rise between January and June compared with the last year. Between them, the four counters clocked 37,213 walkers out enjoying the trail!

Following a horseshoe line around the North York Moors National Park, the Cleveland Way was the second National Trail in England and Wales to be designated. Look out for an in-depth feature on the Cleveland Way in the winter edition of walk magazine, or if you’d like enjoy a fall walk visit www.nationaltrail.co.uk/clevelandway where you’ll find more info on the whole walk or suggestions for shorter, circular walks.
