Roaches open to offers

The Peak District National Park has put a Staffordshire walking spot, the Roaches, up for sale. The park’s authority wants to raise funds and is willing to accept offers from anyone who agrees to manage in partnership, or ensures the area is protected and kept open to the public. Graham Rothery, chair of Staffordshire Ramblers, said: “The Roaches is an iconic beauty spot, and we urge the Park Authority to put the thousands of people who walk on it at the top of their plans. We want to be consulted to make sure these plans are successful.”

I read this in disbelief, then studied photographs we took last October on a memorable walk over the Roaches and on to the wonderful Luds Church – please don’t sell it! It’s too much of an asset to part with!
